“Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.” (Matthew 5:14)
In the first chapter of John, the Lord Jesus is referred to as “…the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world” (verse 9). As Christians, we have the Spirit of Christ; we have His life and it's important for us to be conscious of this reality.
You are the glory of His Presence!
The most important thing in life is what God calls you. He has called you the light of the world; therefore that's the name you must answer. When you were born again, you were born into Zion. You belong in Zion, the city of the great King, and glorious things are spoken of you. God has called you His justified one and His righteousness. He's also called you the perfection of beauty, and says
He shines forth out of you
(Psalm 50:2). So if people want to see the glory of God, they ought to look at you, for you are the bearer of His glory and splendor. The Bible says Jesus Christ is the brightness of His glory, the express image of His person
(Hebrews 1:3); and that's what we are today. We are the express image of His person - we are the outshining of the Father's glory! You are the perfection of
beauty, and in you is the fullness of God and the totality of His presence, power and glory.
Walk in the Light
“Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:15-16)
As a Christian, you are set on a hill and you live your life on the mountain top, Hallelujah! You have been called to remain in perfect health, and live above the dictates of this world, such that men may see your life and glorify God. However, for you to be and remain at that level, you have to let the Word of God influence your life, dominate your thoughts and fill you. The Bible says in Psalm 119:105 that,
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.” God's Word is the light that illuminates our paths and guides us in the way we should live. When you yield yourself to the guidance of the Word and do what it says, you'll be
supernaturally directed in the affairs of your life, and you'll live in perpetual victory.
