YOUR PERSONALGROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT
PERSONAL PRAYER AND FELLOWSHIP

“God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his son Jesus Christ our Lord” (1 Corinthians 1:9)

You have got to walk closely everyday with the Lord Jesus. Abraham was called “the friend of God” (James 2:23). He enjoyed a close friendship and fellowship with the Lord. Now God Almighty has called you into fellowship with His son Jesus Christ.

Of course, there can be no fellowship between two people without communication, so you have to be in constant touch everyday with the Master through prayer. Be willing to spend quality time with Him everyday.

You do this by making a conscious practice of observing your “quiet time” in the presence of God. “Quiet time” is a special time of the day that you set apart to have fellowship with the Lord.

To have a fruitful ‘Quiet time’, you need to isolate yourself, just like Isaac in Genesis 24:63 “And Isaac went out to meditate, in the field in the evening…….” You might not be able to get a physical hill or a desert to go to today, but “quiet time” is not so much a physical thing as it is a mental thing; in other words, it is not where your body is that is important, but what you do with your mind.

Prayer is a privilege; it is a great way of developing your relationship with the Lord. Some people feel they ought to pray only when in the mood or when they feel the Holy Spirit is prompting them to; but the same person goes to work every weekday without considering missing one day of work. They have so disciplined themselves to be at work everyday without any special prompting or feeling. That is how prayer ought to be for the Christian. Sometimes you may not feel like praying, but because you want to prevail upon circumstances, you will have to stir yourself and respond to God from your Spirit. Always make out time to fellowship with God daily.
