WEEK 5 YOUR FIGHT OF FAITH DO NOT BASE YOUR FAITH ON SYMPTOMS What if all the pains and symptoms of the sickness come back? What do I do? The fact that you feel pains or symptoms associated with that condition does not mean that you were not healed by God. You must recognize that the devil will not give up without a fight. So you must be prepared to “fight the good fight of faith”. Jonah 2:8 says “Those that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy”. When God blesses you, it is out of his mercy. Lying vanities are the things that are not consistent with the Word of God. The Bible says in Romans 3:4 “Let God be true and every man a liar”. In other words everything that is not consistent with the Word of God is a lie and the Bible says “If you are observing lying vanities, you forsake your mercy”. You lose it! You are letting it go! For example, when God heals you and you begin to feel the symptoms of the sickness from which God has already healed you, don’t try to observe to see if the swelling is still there. Even if you can still see it, it is a lying vanity, it is empty. God is telling you that it has no power. Don’t tell yourself “I’m not sure I can eat, because it appears the pains have come back”; I’m not sure I can sleep today because my body is shaking”. Don’t observe the physical things, don’t forsake your mercy; don’t carry your healing and throw it away. When you receive healing from God, keep it by continually declaring that God has healed you; continue to testify that God has healed you. It’s just like when you gave your heart to Christ; you did not wait for everybody else to see that you were changed before you declared that you were a child of God even though you did not see God with your physical eyes. It was an act of faith, it was something from inside you, but that didn’t stop the devil from tempting you or trying to tell you that you didn’t belong to God. When Jesus was baptized at the Jordan River by John, God spoke from heaven, saying “This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased” (Matthew 3:17).Right after that, the Bible tells us that Satan came to him when he was hungry and said “If thou be the Son of God, command these stones to be made bread (Matthew 4:3). The devil questioned what God had said about Jesus; God had said “This is my beloved Son”, so Satan came and said “If you are truly the Son of God…” he challenged him. So when you are healed, expect that Satan will challenge you. He will say “If you are truly healed, do this or do that”. You say to him “devil I am healed and I am not going to do what you say but I am still healed. Now that you are healed, and able to walk, the devil might say to you “If you are truly healed, run! The reason you will run is because you want to run and not to prove that you are healed. You are just like Jesus. Jesus could have commanded the stones to be made bread but certainly not for the devil. He didn’t have to do it to prove to the devil that he is the Son of God. Does God consult with the devil to declare who his Son is? No! So the fact that you feel it or see it does not negate the Word of God or your healing. The truth is eternal. The Word of God is truth. John 17:17 says “Sanctify them by thy truth, your Word is truth”. “….The Word of God lives and abides forever” (1 Peter 1:23). The pain is a fact, but the fact is subject to change. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 4:18 “While we look not at things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen, for the things which are seen are temporal (i.e. subject to change), but the things which are not seen are eternal”. The truth is the reality, the fact. (The pain or symptoms are shadows.) Base you faith on the Word and not on the symptoms. The symptom is a lie. Say this: In the next mail, we shall teach you how to fight the good fight of faith. Student Affairs
